CBC Quebec was in Val-d'Or Friday. The community is an economic, educational and cultural hub in the northwest. CBC is exploring how it is responding to changes and challenges, especially concerning its significant First Nations population.
Quebec AM began the day at 6 a.m. ET with Susan Campbell hosting a special live broadcast from the Native Friendship Centre in the Salle Polson. The room is named after artist Frank Polson, an Anishnabe member of the Long Point First Nation in Winneway.
From 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. ET, Breakaway host Rachelle Solomon continued our special programming. In the first part of the program, listeners heard about different education and community projects. The focus then shifted to celebrating sports, culture and youth in northwestern Quebec.
