CBC Do Crew takes on Lakeshore Players for church fundraiser
Do Crew volunteers will serve dinner during murder mystery dinner theater fundraiser in Dorval
The Lakeshore Players have been entertaining audiences on the West Island for 50 years!
This year the cast will take the audience to the scene of a camp dining hall in the play Camp K'monawah Naslaia.
The theatre group is a not-for-profit community group which has helped raise money for West Island charities over the years.
Dorval's Strathmore United Church is the scene and beneficiary of this year's performances. The show premiered last Saturday night and will continue on Saturdays through to May 9.
This murder-mystery dinner theatre is the church's main annual fundraiser.
The church relies on these proceeds so that it can continue to serve as a weekly meeting place for AA as well as the Scouts and Guides. They also give back to Dorval Community Aid (a local food bank) and the to the West Island Citizen's Advocacy Church Apartment Program.
Steve Gillam is not only the minister of the church, but also the writer, director and producer of this Lakeshore Players play.
Since it's a fundraiser the group relies on many volunteers to carry out the serving of the four-course meal.
The CBC Montreal Do Crew will cover the job of serving during one of the five performances. If you have any waiting experience at all and are interested in volunteering, here is what you need to know:
