CBC Do Crew gives Abili-T centre 'new lease on life'
Do Crew volunteers scrubbed and painted at kids day centre
The CBC Do Crew was busy scrubbing toys and painting doors and walls at the Gold Centre on Saturday.
The result is described by Nathalie Garcin, the Gold Centre's director, as "a new lease on life" for the day centre that serves kids with autism.
Our volunteers worked with a group of the program's staff to scrub the toys, chairs, mats and walls. Another group worked to tape and paint the walls and doors of the classroom and gym. It took a team of 15 working all out for over five hours to get the job done. When it was all over, many of the volunteers said the same thing — "that was so much fun."
Thanks to the Abili-T program for welcoming the Do Crew so warmly, and thanks to the kids for the lovely poster thanking the Do Crew. Thanks as well to former student Remi and his dad Jean-Louis for dropping by with coffee and donuts for the volunteers, and a special thank you to Do Crew volunteers Tony, Miranda, Charles, Jill, Belinda, Caroline and Clifford for bringing such great vibes and energy to the job!
Stay tuned for news about April's event.
