Canadiens backup goalie Mike Condon claimed by Pittsburgh Penguins
After a season replacing injured Price, Condon was put on waivers Monday
Montreal Canadiens backup goaltender Mike Condon will head to Pittsburgh after being picked up by the Penguins on Tuesday.
The rookie goalie, who struggled to fill the spot of injured netminder Carey Price during the 2015-16 season, was placed on waivers Monday.
While the Penguins already have an excellent duo in Marc-Andre Fleury and Matt Murray, they find themselves short-handed going forward.
Murray broke his hand at the World Cup and could miss several weeks of activities.
In his first NHL season, Condon pulled off a 21-25-6 record over 55 games, including 51 starts.
The Holliston, Maine-native held a goals-against average of 2.71.
