Bell Centre gets $100M facelift
Glass canopy, giant video screen to accompany new downtown pedestrian area
The 200-metre stretch of road in front of the Bell Centre will be transformed into a pedestrian-only zone as part of $100 million in renovations planned for inside and outside the arena.
Montreal Canadiens owner Geoff Molson announced the three-year plan Wednesday in Montreal.
The changes also include the installation of a glass-canopy to overhang part of the street, named Canadiens Avenue, while a massive video screen will be placed over the front entrance as part of the proposed redesign presented to the City of Montreal.
The interior of the 19-year-old arena will be renovated as well, with a new sports restaurant, video screens and WiFi service. Lodges and concessions stands will be remodeled.
Overall, nearly $100M will be invested over a three-year period to revamp the Bell Centre's interior and exterior. #GoHabsGo
