8 Montreal homes raided by anti-corruption police
Radio-Canada sources say raids are related to last spring’s investigation at the Jewish General Hospital
About 100 investigators from the province’s anti-corruption unit visited eight homes in the Montreal area on Tuesday afternoon.
According to Radio-Canada sources, the raids are linked to an investigation that’s been going on at the Jewish General Hospital since last spring.
In April, Radio-Canada's Enquête program had revealed that some maintenance workers at the hospital, who worked for a subcontractor, said they were sent to do work at private homes -- including at the homes of two hospital managers.
It wasn't clear at the time who paid for the work. The two managers resigned.
The work was done during regular work hours and there were no invoices because the work was paid for in cash.
The Jewish General Hospital carried out its own investigation and the money was fully reimbursed.
