Two women from Laval were killed Saturday in an accident in Saint-Roch-de-l'Achigan in the Lanaudière region.

The women, both in their 50s, were heading north on Highway 25, according to the Sûreté du Québec. For an unknown reason, the car veered off course, turned around, and continued in reverse on the southbound lane.

It then collided with another vehicle carrying a 62-year-old woman. She was seriously injured, but doctors don't fear for her life, police said.

Police closed the outbound lane of Highway 25 while investigating the scene.
