A 29-year-old man has been charged with two counts of second-degree murder for allegedly killing his parents in a Montreal suburb.

Mitchell Arnott was formally charged at the Montreal courthouse Thursday afternoon. He is accused of killing his mother, Louise Boucher, 65, and his father, Wayne Arnott, 60.

Wayne Arnott was widely known in the West Island as the owner of Bluenose Collectibles in Pointe-Claire.

According to Montreal police, officers responded to a call at about 9:30 p.m. Wednesday night, reporting two unconscious people in a home in the city's Île Bizard neighbourhood. The bodies of both victims were then found inside.

The deaths are the 30th and 31st homicides on Montreal police territory this year.
