'Million dollar duck' man turns 100
Michel Sikyea turned 100 years old today.
The Dene elder was recognized during the opening of the legislative assembly today for his efforts in securing aboriginal rights to hunt migratory birds.
Sikyea is commonly known as the man who shot the 'million dollar duck'.
That's a reference to the court costs related to his challenge of North American hunting restrictions.
Sikyea now lives at the Aven Seniors Centre in Yellowknife, where he celebrated his birthday with friends and family.
About sixty well-wishers attended the party.
