A 42-year-old woman was stabbed to death outside a hotel in Winnipeg's North End neighbourhood.

It happened at about 8:30 p.m. Wednesday outside the Merchants Hotel at the corner of Selkirk Avenue and Andrews Street.

According to police, there was an altercation between a number of women at the front of the hotel when things turned deadly.

The woman was stabbed multiple times and rushed to hospital in critical condition, but died a short time later.
