A 26-year-old woman has been arrested for allegedly driving on a sidewalk in an attempt to hit pedestrians at The Forks Saturday.

Winnipeg police say the woman, from God's Lake Narrows, also threatened a security guard in the area before fleeing the scene.

Police say the ordeal started around 3:40 p.m. when the woman, driving a gold Dodge Caravan, attempted to hit the pedestrians.

Police spotted the van several minutes later leaving The Forks and arrested the driver, who police say then assaulted two officers.

The driver is charged with failing to provide a breath sample, uttering threats, assaulting a peace officer, dangerous operation of a vehicle, and driving while disqualified.
