A Canada-wide warrant has been issued for a 41-year-old Winnipeg man involved in the abduction of two children.

Police allege Robert Groen helped in the 2008 abduction of seven-year-old Dominic Maryk and his six-year-old sister, Abby, who were on a holiday with their biological father, Kevin Maryk, in August 2008.

Police believe Kevin Maryk took the children but it wasn't until recently that the investigation revealed that Groen assisted Maryk, police said on Friday.

However, Groen hasn't been seen since February 2011 in Winnipeg and is believed to have left the country, police said.

His current whereabouts is not known.

Groen is described as being five feet and nine inches tall, weighing 160 pounds with a medium build and has shaved brown hair, with green eyes.

Anyone with information regarding his whereabouts is asked to contact the Winnipeg Police Service's missing persons unit at 204-986-6250.

The children's vacation with Maryk was approved by the court, even though their mother has legal custody.

Abby Maryk is described as having green eyes, wavy, shoulder-length, blonde hair and weighing about 40 pounds. Dominic has brown eyes, short brown hair and weighs 60 pounds.

Kevin Maryk is described as being about five feet and 10 inches tall, weighing about 200 pounds, with hazel eyes, and possibly a shaved head and goatee.

Anyone with information regarding Maryk's or the children's whereabouts is asked to contact the Winnipeg police or Child Find at 1-800-532-9135.
