Winnipeg's annual winter route parking ban takes effect Dec. 6
Parking on designated streets between 2 and 7 a.m. will be prohibited during the ban
Winnipeg drivers won't be allowed to park on certain streets overnight starting next week once the city's annual winter route parking ban takes effect.
Parking will be prohibited on designated streets between 2 and 7 a.m. starting Friday, Dec. 6, the city said in a news release.
Winnipeg residents can look up winter parking bans in their neighbourhood through Know Your Zone app, contacting 311 and searching on the city's interactive snow map.
The city said the ban is not dependent on weather events and applies every day of the week, even when it is not snowing or streets look to have been recently cleared.
Those who violate the ban could get a $100 ticket or $75 if they pay early. Their vehicle might also be towed.
The city is expecting to keep the ban in place until weather conditions no longer require it, likely next spring.
