Louis Riel School Division students take part in No Stone Left Alone ceremony
About 250 students from the Louis Riel School Division learned about the significance of Remembrance Day at Winnipeg's Elmwood Cemetery on Tuesday.
The students were joined by 20 soldiers from CFB Shilo as they placed poppies on the graves of soldiers who are buried at the cemetery.
"It's Remembrance Day and we have to remember the people who lost their lives in the war who were fighting for peace for our country," said Jade Anderson, one of the students.
"We stood by the graves reading all the names and putting poppies on them, to remember them."
The event was an initiative of the No Stone Left Alone Memorial Foundation, which aims to educate, remember, and honour soldiers' sacrifices.
