Winnipeg's Hotel Fort Garry ends iconic weekly brunch
The brunch will continue to be held on special days such as Easter Sunday and Mother's Day.
The Hotel Fort Garry has ended its weekly Sunday Brunch.
In mid-February it stopped serving the massive buffet on a weekly basis in the historic hotel.
Shawn Clements, Food and Beverage Manager for the Hotel Fort Garry, said it was decided to make a change and have an even bigger brunch five times a year.
For two decades the brunch has been held in the foyer of the hotel.
Clements said it will now be moved and take over the entirety of the 7th floor.
The hotel will continue to have its $65 brunch on special Sundays such as Valentines Day, Easter Sunday, Mother's Day, Father's Day and Thanksgiving.
Clement said the weekly brunch would have close to 400 people attend, 600 on special days such as Mother's Day.
He admitted it was a difficult decision, and many people, including staff are disappointed, but they decided to take the brunch to the next level.
