Winnipeg Jets fans land in Anaheim for first playoff game in 19 years
Jets fans flock to the California to get in on the playoff action for the first time since 1996
Kerri Woloszyn and Graeme Hill wouldn't normally get up at 4 am, but to travel to Anaheim to watch the Jets 2.0 first playoff appearance, they'll make an exception.
The couple just landed in Anaheim after a 10 hour journey and forking over approximately $1200 each for airfare, hotel and 400 level tickets to game 1 and game 2.
Woloszyn, a production manager from Winnipeg said, "yeah we had to shell out a bit of money but I think it's going to be worth it, being here with other people and the team it's super exciting."
The pair are just two of many many Winnipeg Jets fans making the journey to southern California for Games 1 and 2.
Hill who is an online marketing manager explains the need to make such a pilgrimage, "obsession I suppose, just devotion. I mean we don't miss a single game. We are at every game we can in person, we have season tickets, we're fortunate enough," Hill adds that the game is one thing that can unite people.
Wolosyzn agrees that there is just something special about this Jets run, "I think it's about the city being so starved for not just hockey but something to get really excited about," she said.
On Wednesday Anaheim Ducks staff weren't sure the number of tickets sold out of state but are expecting it to be a very full if not sold out arena.
