Winnipeg Harvest celebrity bowl auction raises $390K

It might be the only competition where the Great One faces off with James Bond but at a record-breaking fundraiser in Winnipeg, Sean Connery and Wayne Gretzky were both beaten by Winnipeg Jet alumni Ab McDonald.

It might be the only competition where the Great One faces off with James Bond but at a record-breaking fundraiser in Winnipeg, Sean Connery and Wayne Gretzky were both beaten by Winnipeg Jet alumni Ab McDonald.

It's all friendly competition at the Winnipeg Harvest Empty Bowl Celebrity Auction, which was held Thursday night.

This year the fundraiser took in a record-breaking $390,000.

Jet Ab McDonald's bowls went for $2,600 followed by Sean Connery's at $2,400. Wayne Gretzky's bowl took $750 and a co-signed bowl from Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood raised $550.

It is the largest fundraiser of the year for Winnipeg Harvest, which helps to feed people in need.
