Some Winnipeg dog adoption groups are getting in on the Black Friday hype, hoping to find families for their homeless hounds.

Some Winnipeg dog adoption groups are getting in on the Black Friday hype, hoping to find families for their homeless hounds.

"What better way to stay warm this winter than to cuddle up to your new best friend?" a release from the City of Winnipeg's animal services agency said on Thursday.

The sale, at the agency's 1057 Logan Ave. office, goes Friday from 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

All adoptions are $99, which includes licence, micro-chip, spay/neuter, basic shots, food and pet health insurance.

Typically, that cost is $197.

Dogs available for adoption can be seen on the city's website, through the link at the left of this page.

Manitoba Mutts Dog Rescue is also offering a deal on dogs, reducing adoption fees by $50 from Nov. 28 to Dec. 1.
