Winnipeg police arrested a man wanted on a pair of Canada-wide warrants after closing off part of a North End street on Tuesday afternoon.

Police arrived on Pritchard Avenue at around 2:15 p.m. and blocked off the road between McGregor and McKenzie Streets.

Shortly after 5 p.m., police sent out a news release saying they'd taken Christopher Matthew Brass, 34, into custody, and that the situation had been resolved without incident.

A police spokeperson also confirmed Brass was arrested.

The Winnipeg Police Service had asked for the public's help to locate Brass on Monday.

"Brass is the subject of two Canada-wide arrest warrants involving numerous violent offences, including a number of incidents where he is believed to have discharged a firearm," the Monday release stated.

Police say they will release more information on Wednesday.
