Bus fares set to go up by a nickel

It’s going to cost a little bit more to take the bus starting next month.

It's going to cost a little bit more to take the bus in Winnipeg starting next month.

Regular fares on Winnipeg Transit and Handi-Transit go up by five cents starting on Jan. 1, 2017.

Riders will now have to pay $2.70, up from $2.65. Reduced and senior cash fares will be $2.20.

The annual fare increases are pegged to inflation and are implemented without city council approval through the fees and charges bylaw.

2016 bus tickets will be accepted until March 31, 2017.
