Blustery winds continue, but storms to end in southern Manitoba
Major snowfall closes highways, schools, buses cancelled in the city of Winnipeg
The storm warnings are over but that doesn't mean it's a whole lot nicer out there in southern Manitoba today.
A blowing snow advisory remains in place for parts of southern Manitoba. Poor visibility continues in blustery conditions but should improve through the afternoon and into the evening.
In general, another two to four centimetres of snow is expected to fall Wednesday, accompanied by winds gusting to 60 km/h.
Around the southeast shores of the big lakes, lake-effect snow will result in greater amounts, says CBC meteorologist John Sauder. The area north of Portage la Prairie could see an additional 20 centimetres.
Many highways were closed and many schools cancelled classes or bus service for the day.
All school buses were cancelled in Winnipeg on Wednesday. For full details, check out CBC's Storm Centre.
