Temperatures soar Thursday, crash down Friday in Winnipeg

Thursday is the warm day of the week in southern Manitoba, before winter returns for Friday.

A high of about 5 C is expected in Winnipeg with even warmer temperatures in communites south and west of the city — 9 C in Steinbach, Morden and Brandon.

That's ahead of some snow that arrives Friday. The expected amounts are uncertain at this time, but Winnipeg will likely get about 2-4 centimetres, says CBC meteorologist John Sauder.

As much as 10 cm could fall just north of the city, he said.

  • Wind south 20-25 km/h in the morning; 15-20 km/h in the afternoon.
  • TONIGHT cloudy.
  • Rain begins this evening then changes to snow overnight into Friday morning.

Normal temperatures for this time of year are a daytime high of 2 C and an overnight low of –8 C.
