The MTS Centre was packed with 16,000 students from more than 450 schools across Manitoba today for We Day, an annual event aimed at inspiring youth to make a difference in the world.

This year's event featured musicians Kardinal Offishall, Shawn Desman and Hedley, as well as speeches from social advocates from around the world.

Among the speakers were Kweku Mandela, the grandson of former South Africa president Nelson Mandela, and former Irish president Mary Robinson.

The event was organized by the Canadian charity Free The Children. According to founder Craig Kielburger, We Day is designed to motivate young people to help fight injustice and lead local and global change.
