Walk for Thelma Krull renews family's 'faith in the community'
Search for missing 57-year-old woman has left investigators stumped, 'grasping at straws'
The "Help Light the Way for Thelma" walk was held in honour of 57-year-old Thelma Krull, who was last seen walking in the early morning of July 11.
"We've got to do something. The family needs our help," said Margaret Schroeder, Krull's friend. "We still need to find her, we still need to bring her home."
Connie Muscat, one of the event organizers, said Thelma's absence is taking a toll on family and friends.
"We have a very close family and friends group here," said Muscat. "Thelma is the leader of our group too, so that makes it harder. We are really missing her piece in our puzzle."
Muscat said she hopes the walk helps send a message to people in the community.
"We want people to be cautious, more cautious than ever, because something happened and we're not sure what it is and she's still missing, so we want people to be out there and safe."
Not alone
Lisa Besser, Krull's daughter, said the family is touched by how so many people came together for the walk Saturday night.
A series of community-led searches have taken place since Krull was last seen, but very few details have surfaced that have helped investigators make sense of the case.
"We're grasping at straws," Const. Eric Hofley told reporters at a Friday press conference.
Krull's glasses were discovered during a search in the area around the Kimberly Avenue toboggan hill between Valley Gardens Community Centre and Kildonan East Collegiate earlier this week.
Home surveillance footage of Krull walking down a residential street, as well as a photo of two cyclists police believe may have crossed paths with her the day she went missing, have been made public.
