Dozens of Ukrainian Winnipeggers gathered on the steps of the legislature Sunday night to mark the first anniversary of the Euromaidan –civil unrest in Ukraine.

Dozens of Ukrainian Winnipeggers gathered on the steps of the legislature Sunday night to mark the first anniversary of the Euromaidan –the civil unrest in Ukraine we saw last year.
The rally was organized by Manitoba's Ukrainian Canadian Congress.
“What we want to achieve by this is to bring attention to Canadians of the events in Ukraine over the year. Lots of things happened, there’s still a war going on,” said Ostap Skrypnyk. “There’s still Russian aggression, and we’d like the Canadian government to continue its good work in supporting Ukraine.”

Last year, protests against the Pro-Russian government in Kiev led to the revolution.
Sunday night, candles were lit and Ukrainian flags were raised at the legislature to show solidarity with Ukraine.
On Monday, Canada’s Minister of National Defence, Rob Nicholson, was scheduled to visit Kiev.
