2 taken to hospital after train hits vehicle in south Winnipeg

Two people were taken to hospital Friday after a train struck a vehicle in south Winnipeg.

Both men were transported in stable condition, police said Saturday morning

Two people were taken to hospital Friday after a train struck a vehicle in Winnipeg's south end. 

The collision happened near Bairdmore Boulevard at the Letellier Crossing, Winnipeg police said in a tweet just after 6:30 p.m. 

As of 9:30 p.m., Winnipeg police said the road had reopened to traffic.

In a news release issued Saturday morning, police said emergency crews responded to the crash on Bairdmore Boulevard near De Vos Road around 5:45 p.m. Friday.

The driver and passenger of the vehicle, both men, were extracted and taken to hospital in stable condition, the release said.

No further details were provided.
