A new video by Tourism Winnipeg features Alexander Mickelthwate, conductor of the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra, playfully promoting the city as an eclectic, four-season destination.

"To say we're an eccentric bunch is an understatement," Mickelthwate says at the start of the video, which was launched on YouTube on Wednesday.

"We work hard, we play hard, but we also know about the finer things in life, like taking in nature and sharing a sense of wonder."

The video features sights and sounds from across Winnipeg, from the polar bears at Assiniboine Park Zoo and the crowd at a Winnipeg Jets game to the various patios, festivals, shops and restaurants in the city.

"We're a city that embraces all four seasons, like patio season, festival season, shopping season and, of course, our famous winters," Mickelthwate says.

"We are Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. We would like you to visit. Come take part in the show."

In a news release, officials with Tourism Winnipeg say the video aims to inspire more people to visit the city by showing people "the sensational story of Winnipeg and the many unique aspects there are to discover."

The video was produced by Tripwire Media Group Inc., a local production company.
