A tornado warning issued for part of western Manitoba has ended, but a severe thunderstorm warning is in place for other areas, Environment Canada says

The national weather agency previously said it was tracking a thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado, as well as golf ball-sized hail.

That warning is no longer in effect as of early Wednesday evening, but severe thunderstorm warnings and watches are in effect for much of the southeastern part of the province.

The weather agency said the large hail can damage property, break windows, dent vehicles and cause serious injury, and noted intense lightning is likely with thunderstorms.

It also urged people to remember that severe thunderstorms are still capable of producing tornadoes, and said to take cover immediately if threatening weather approaches.

Environment Canada's advice also includes going inside and moving away from windows and skylights.
