A 21-year-old man from Brandon who was found dead in a western Manitoba park Friday night is believed to have been the victim of homicide, police say.

A 21-year-old man from Brandon who was found dead in a western Manitoba park Friday night is believed to have been the victim of homicide, police say.

The man was found unresponsive in Legion Park in Swan River — about 270 kilometres north of Brandon — by officers responding to a call around 11 p.m., a Saturday news release from RCMP said.

The man had obvious injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, Mounties said.

The RCMP's major crime services and forensic identification services are investigating his death as a homicide.
