Sunday shopping still a hot debate in Winnipeg
It's been one year since people in Winnipeg have been able to shop on Sunday mornings.
However, the provincial law that allowed the expanded hours is still under debate.
Despite spending his morning at Safeway, Raffael Giandomenico said he's against Sunday shopping.
"Because it's open, I go," Giandomenico said. "You know, I can go tomorrow, next week ... Leave Sunday to rest."
Some other people at the same Safeway said Sunday shopping hours should be even longer.
It's still against the law in Manitoba for large retailers to stay open past 6 p.m. CT.
Gareth McEvoy said he likes the flexibility of longer Sunday shopping hours.
"Sunday shopping doesn't bother me," McEvoy said. "The hours are nice because it's nice to spend the afternoon with your family too."
McEvoy said he likes the new laws allowing Sunday shopping because it gives employees who might need more hours the chance to work.
