Storm watch issued for parts of Manitoba

A winter storm watch has been issued for parts of southwestern Manitoba.

A winter storm watch has been issued for parts of southwestern Manitoba.

An Alberta clipper passing through Saskatchewan is headed for Manitoba by Tuesday evening, creating the potential for severe winter weather in Minnedosa, Neepawa, Russell, Riding Mountain, Melita, Boissevain, Turtle Mountain, Virden and Souris.

"Some of the computer guidance on this one has up to 20 centimetres of snow on Wednesday [but] that's not typical of a clipper so I have downplayed the snow amount," said CBC meteorologist John Sauder. "I think five to 10 cm is more likely.

"Clippers move quickly so snowfalls generally aren't that high. We'll also see some flurries Thursday and a chance on Friday."
