The driver of semi-trailer has been charged in a head-on crash that killed 21-year-old Winnipeg man.

The crash happened on the Trans-Canada Highway just before 9:30 p.m. Monday near the John Blumberg softball complex in Headingley, west of Winnipeg.

RCMP say the westbound semi crossed the centre line and collided with the eastbound pickup truck. The 33-year-old driver of the semi, from Edmonton, is charged with dangerous operation causing death and resisting a police officer.

He has been remanded into custody and is scheduled to be in court on July 24.
