Greg MacPherson ready to unleash 'Fireball'
Few names loom as large in the Winnipeg music scene as Greg MacPherson. The self-managed musician and Disintegration Records co-founder has been playing shows and releasing music in the 'Peg since 1996.
He's now gearing up to release Fireball, his eighth studio album.
The fiercely local rocker, who also works as the executive director of the West Broadway Community Organization, says that his new record will be "more energetic," have "shorter songs, no ballads, [and] plenty of songs people can dance to."
While MacPherson's last few albums have tended toward dark and brooding, he says his latest effort contains songs about "sex, danger, heartbreak, possibility, romance, and people you can relate to."
The first single is "1995" - a rollicking track that gives you a taste of the unrestrained energy on the album. The simple black-and-white music video, directed by Nicholas Friesen, features MacPherson and drummer Rob Gardiner in an intense performance.
Having just completed an Eastern Canadian tour, MacPherson will hit the road again in November to play a handful of shows throughout western Canada.
