A traffic stop by Winnipeg police resulted in the seizure of a scoped .22 calibre semi-automatic rifle, ammunition and three knives.

Two males, aged 17 and 18, have been arrested and are facing multiple firearms-related charges.

Police were doing a checkstop around 2:30 a.m. Sunday in the area of Portage Avenue and Raglan Road, near Omand's Creek, when a truck was pulled over.

When officers were speaking with the driver he was acting in a suspicious manner and a firearm was seen inside the vehicle, police said.

Police arrested the two people inside and the vehicle was searched.

The males, both from Headingley, have been released from custody on a promise to appear in court.
