RCMP member rapped for demeaning emails about colleagues
An RCMP dispatcher at the police communications centre in Winnipeg was disciplined for sending snide emails about co-workers during working hours.
A 2013 discipline report into the case said the civilian employee sent the emails to a dozen colleagues during about a month, talking about “a mix of personal information, criticism, mockery and venting regarding work environment and colleagues.”

The 16 emails referred to other employees by nicknames such as “Poopsey,” “Big Kahuna,” “mole,” and “fearless leader."
Some of the entries openly mock some employees and appeared expressly intended to annoy others, the report said.
The employee got into trouble after a co-worker, who was not an intended recipient of the emails, found a printed copy of one on a photocopier and was upset at the contents.
The email writer was docked two days’ pay and handed a reprimand.
The discipline report said she took responsibility for her actions and apologized to her co-workers.
When the misconduct happened in 2011, she was suffering medical complications, was sleep deprived, had a very ill husband and a terminally-ill relative, the report said.
The report noted she was an excellent dispatcher and had an unblemished performance record to that point.
