Hundreds of foodies wait outside deer + almond restaurant on Sunday to buy presale tickets for the 2016 RAW:almond outdoor pop-up restaurant. All the tickets were sold by Monday morning.

Foodies hoping to score tickets to RAW:almond, the outdoor pop-up restaurant that heats up Winnipeg's frozen rivers for three weeks every winter, are out of luck.

The event is sold out, organizers tweeted on Monday morning, a day after pre-sale tickets to the 2016 edition became available.

Founded by RAW: Gallery of Architecture & Design and deer + almond restaurant, RAW:almond is a temporary tarp-and-metal-framed restaurant where you can walk or skate to your seat. It features guest chefs from Winnipeg and other cities.

Its Jan. 21 to Feb. 14 dates will be the fourth consecutive season the restaurant has operated in Winnipeg.

It has attracted praise from around the world, which may explain the excitement and long lineups outside deer + almond on Sunday, where people waited to get pre-sale tickets.

The line extended down Princess Street and wrapped around Bannatyne Avenue as people waited patiently for the tickets, which cost $120 each.

Tickets were also sold online on Monday — at least, until about 9 a.m., when organizers tweeted that it's sold out.
