Three people were ticketed on Sunday after Mounties say they became "belligerent" toward RCMP officers who went to a house party in The Pas, Man., to enforce COVID-19-related provincial emergency orders.

Officers went to the home in the northwestern Manitoba city about 520 kilometres from Winnipeg to remind the partygoers of the orders, according to a news release issued Wednesday.

That's when three people — a 43-year-old woman, 25-year-old woman and 26-year-old man — disobeyed the directions and became hostile, police say.

They were each charged with failing to comply with a provincial emergency order under the Emergency Measures Act and issued $486 tickets.

RCMP say officers across the province received 101 calls related to the virus between April 14 and 20, the majority of which were reports of 10 or more people gathering and not respecting public health orders

Most of the issues were resolved through education or guidance given by officers, and some weren't under RCMP jurisdiction.

In six instances, officers went to the location of the complaint and issued verbal warnings.

People who live outside Winnipeg should not call 911 when reporting non-compliance with public health orders, RCMP said.

Those calls should go to the Manitoba government inquiry line at 204-945-3744.

People in Winnipeg can report those not following the public health orders by calling or emailing 311, or by contacting the City of Winnipeg on Twitter.
