Province to build new 40-spot child care centre for unknown price tag
Province of Manitoba building child care centre at King Edward Community School, cost not revealed
The Province of Manitoba has committed to building a new child care centre in northwest Winnipeg, but they're remaining quiet about how much that will cost.
Manitoba's Family Services Minister Kerri Irvin-Ross and Education Minister James Allum announced the project on Tuesday, which will see a new child care centre with 40 spaces built at King Edward Community School.
The building will be about 3,300 square feet and have space for 32 preschool and eight infant spaces.
There are already 15 spaces for older children at the centre, and those will continue to be offered, provincial officials said.
Construction on the project is set to begin in January 2016.
Provincial officials would not provide an estimated cost of the project. They would only say the tendering process has not yet started, so cost details are not available.
Officials at the press conference refused to release the amount of money allocated for the project.
