There’s still ice, slush and snow on the ground, but Manitoba’s outdoor enthusiasts began preparing for camping season on Monday.

The province opened reservations for cabins, yurts and group-use campsites at 7 a.m.

Manitobans could register online, in person or by telephone.

Previous year’s reservations began in February, but were pushed back to March this year.

Registration for individual camp sites begins April 1 at 7 a.m.

Reservations can be made at the Manitoba Parks Reservation Service website.

The province recently announced it would increase the number of campsites and yurts as part of plan to renew Manitoba’s provincial parks.
