Winnipeg police were in a field northwest of the city Friday as part of an investigation into a serious incident that turned out to be "unfounded."
Police were in the area of King Edward Street and Jefferson Avenue just before 4 p.m.
They had stopped southbound traffic on King Edward and warned they were expecting to be in the area well into the evening and Saturday morning. The police identification unit was also brought in.
But a Winnipeg police spokesperson said late Friday the incident turned out to be unfounded.
Police did not release any other details Friday night.
