Man stabbed to death outside Elmwood apartment building
Several police units are at the block, including the forensic identification unit
A man is dead after being stabbed outside of an apartment building in Winnipeg's Elmwood neighbourhood.
Officers were called to the building on Talbot Avenue, between Stadacona and Allan streets, around 1:30 a.m. Wednesday, spokesperson Const. Rob Carver said.
The man was rushed to hospital in critical condition but pronounced dead.
Police have not provided any information on the man's age or whether anyone is in custody.
Several police units are at the three-storey building, including the forensic identification unit. Police tape is blocking the sidewalk leading to the doors.
His death is the city's 33rd homicide of the year.
Anyone who may have been in the area of Talbot and Stadacona during the early morning hours and may have information for investigators is asked to call either 204-986-6508 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).
