Male assaulted in front of Portage Place Tuesday evening

A male was assaulted in front of Portage Place Shopping Centre on Tuesday at about 6 p.m., say Winnipeg police.

A male was assaulted in front of Portage Place Shopping Centre on Tuesday at about 6 p.m., say Winnipeg police.

The victim is being treated in hospital for unknown injuries.

Winnipeg police taped off a section of sidewalk outside Portage Place Shopping Centre and part of an entrance to the mall at Vaughan Street. Multiple police officers were on scene Tuesday night investigating.

Police did not say whether there are any suspects or if anyone is being questioned.

Earlier on Tuesday members of the Winnipeg Police Service bomb unit entered a building behind Portage Place and removed what they described as an airsoft "grenade."
