Brian Pallister looks to share Manitoba's priorities with Justin Trudeau

Manitoba's premier is hoping to speak with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau this week to make sure the province's interests are well served.

The Liberal Party of Canada's biennial convention starts today in Winnipeg and Trudeau is scheduled to give a keynote address on Saturday at 12:15 CT.

Brian Pallister said he plans on raising a number of issues if he gets to speak with Trudeau.

"There are a number of ministerial meetings we hope will happen. I will have a number of meetings and agenda items [that] from our perspective will give evidence of what we consider to be the chief priorities of Manitobans," Pallister said. 

Pallister added that it's important to build strong relationships and trust with federal colleagues.

"I would urge all federal representatives to understand very clearly that as much as I want them to be friends, I want them to be demonstrably in support of Manitoba's best efforts to grow and to succeed," he said. 

Pallister said he wouldn't release any details of the meeting until it wraps up. 

Liberal members of parliament from across the country will be attending the convention.
