A $3.1 million cable ferry that will serve Norway House First Nation is nearly complete. Crews moved it between two construction yards in Selkirk, Man. on Friday.

A $3.1 million cable ferry that will serve Norway House First Nation is nearly complete.

In a news release on Friday, the government of Manitoba said 156-tonne vessel is about 75 per cent complete.

On Friday the C.F. Gilbert Laugher was moved from a building site in Selkirk, Man about 16 kilometres away to a provincial construction yard in the city.

Pilot vehicles escorted the move, said the province.

The new cable ferry will replace C.F. James Apetagon which has been in service since 1977.
