Winter storm, snowfall warnings blanket parts of northern Manitoba
Flin Flon, Oxford House, Norway House could get 15 to 25 cm of snow; 10 to 15 cm expected in Thompson
A swath of communities north of The Pas and Lake Winnipeg are under snowfall and winter storm warnings Friday.
Environment Canada is calling for winter storms from Flin Flon along the Manitoba-Saskatchewan border east through Norway House First Nation to Island Lake near the Manitoba-Ontario border.
A low pressure system tracking east from Saskatchewan is expected to bring 15 to 25 centimetres of snow between Friday and Saturday afternoon before the storm clears. Freezing rain is expected in Norway House and Island Lake Friday night.
Meanwhile just to the north, Thompson, Lynn Lake, Leaf Rapids, Pukatawagan and surrounding communities could receive heavy amounts of snow, according to Environment Canada.
Thompson and Lynn Lake are expected to be hit with 10 to 15 cm of snow starting in the afternoon.
Road conditions will be poor in many regions and Environment Canada suggests postponing any non-essential trips until conditions improve.
