Vandals paint swastikas on North Kildonan elementary school
Maple Leaf School hit by taggers Friday night, says community watch group
Trevor Siwak leads North Kildonan Community Watch and said the graffiti is a "concern."
"I know about a month ago the school had a couple pieces of graffiti on it but nothing close to that much. It seems like it took a number of people to do that," he said.
"It's really unfortunate and it's really frustrating."
The graffiti spans at least two walls of an outdoor playing area.
Siwak is not aware of any other new graffiti in the community similar to the tags at Maple Leaf School but he said it is still troubling.

"It makes people feel unsafe too. You start seeing things like that in the community and you start to have a lot of questions [that] come up," he said.
Community members should take this as warning to keep their eyes open, especially in more secluded areas like school grounds on the weekend, said Siwak.
"Police only have so many resources, we only have so many resources. It's really up to the community to keep watch on this and get the stuff off the walls as soon as possible," he said.
River East Transcona School Division said it plans to have the tags removed by Monday.
