NHL playoff chase: Where are the Jets now after win over Montreal?

The Winnipeg Jets beat Montreal 5-2 on Thursday night to improve to 90 points in 75 games this season. CBC's Mitch Peacock explains how that win, and other factors, could change the team's chase for an NHL playoff spot.

The Winnipeg Jets beat Montreal 5-2 on Thursday night to improve to 90 points in 75 games this season.

That puts the team one point behind Minnesota for the first wild card spot, and three up on Calgary for the last playoff spot.

The Jets are down to seven games remaining (four at MTS Centre, three away) starting with Chicago at home on Sunday evening.

On Friday night, Minnesota is home to Calgary, as both teams play their game in hand on the Jets.

If the NHL playoffs started today, the Jets would be up against conference-leading Anaheim in a best of seven.

But, while the regular season is winding down, it's far from over.
