This weekend, Manitoba's New Democrats must decide whether to keep Greg Selinger as party leader and premier, or whether to change course with one of two challengers — Theresa Oswald or Steve Ashton.

In the lead-up to the March 8 leadership convention in Winnipeg, the three candidates went from constituency to constituency to shore up advance support from delegates.

As of March 4, CBC's constituency delegate and Manitoba Young New Democrat (MYND) delegate tallies are as follows:

Constituency delegates:

  • Ashton: 482
  • Selinger: 415
  • Oswald: 336
  • Independent: 7
  • Total constituency delegates: 1,240 

MYND delegates:

  • Oswald: 91
  • Ashton: 1
  • Selinger: 0

Union support:

  • Selinger: CUPE (288), UFCW Local 0832 (160)
  • Ashton: United Fire Fighters (25), United Steelworkers (61)
  • Oswald: IBEW Local 2085 (15)

*Union support currently only an allotment of delegates based on membership, subject to change.
