MTS Centre concourse to get $12M face lift
A $12-million spruce-up is coming to Winnipeg's MTS Centre concourse.
New lighting, flooring, ceiling, and signage are all part of renovations that are scheduled to start right away and be completed by late fall of 2017, according to True North Sports and Entertainment.
"New colours will emulate the Winnipeg Jets brand colour palette while incorporating an aviation theme of glass, steel, and rivets," a press release from True North states, noting the planning for the renovations has been in development for more than three years and will also include work inside the Portage Avenue atrium.
As part of the overall changes, Jets fans will see new food and beverage options when the next season begins.
Last year, True North focused its off-season improvements to the in-game experience for Jets fans.
That included new seating, improved sightlines by replacing steel mesh with glass, and digital technology throughout the concourses.
A couple of years before that, True North spent $6 million upgrading the 300 level for fans, installing two new lounges, increasing the number of bathrooms and widening the selection of beers for fans.
