MS River Rouge owner refuses to move boat from Alexander Docks
Kyriakos Vogiatzaki says City of Winnipeg is giving him 3 weeks to relocate ship from dock area
A Winnipeg river boat says he won't move his ship despite what the city has said about the condition of the Alexander Street dock.
The city is closing the downtown dock for inspection because of possible ice damage.
MS River Rouge owner Kyriakos Vogiatzakis said high water levels have almost ruined his season, but he has paid to use the Alexander dock and he does not plan to move his boat.
"If they think that they are just going to bully me off the property after guaranteeing me a lease there and only giving me only three weeks to adjust accordingly, I guarantee you if they're going to have to, they are going to have police officers hauling me off that property," said Vogiatzakis.
In an email, a City of Winnipeg spokesperson told CBC News that officials are working with the business owner to find a "workabout solution for the river boat that allows for the needed assessment of the condition [of] this particular dock."
